INTERNATIONAL SUMMER UNIVERSITY FRANKFURT


The Hessen International Summer University (ISU) Frankfurt is a unique four-week summer school open to students currently enrolled in Bachelor and Master programs from around the world. Designed for international students and taught entirely in English, our short-term program combines high quality lectures on current financial and political topics, intensive German language courses, and a diverse cultural and social program.

Dates of program: July 15 - August 11,  2018


Students can take courses in European Finance and European Studies. Along with German language courses, the ISU Frankfurt program is worth up to 9 ECTS points. The program is taught entirely in English and designed for international students.

What's included?

4 weeks of academic courses, German language courses, and an exciting cultural program, including excursions to the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg and Germany’s capital, Berlin. Accommodation, insurance, and transportation around Frankfurt are also included in the program fee.

SUMMER PROGRAM - EUROPEAN INNOVATION ACADEMY (10-29 JULY 2016)



European Innovation Academy (EIA) is the World’s Largest Entrepreneurship Summer Program focused on IT innovations. EIA is designed to offer students an experiential learning opportunity that affords deep insight into the real-life startup life. The three-week program is strongly influenced by prestigious startup accelerators from Silicon Valley and developed in cooperation with representatives from top institutions - UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Google. Multidisciplinary teams launch new products to the market in a record time of 15 days. In Italy, 350 international students are daily mentored by 100 mentors, VC-s and speakers. Summer Business Program - nueva edición

Se ha abierto el plazo de matrícula de nuestro Summer Business Program, que la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales de la UA organiza cada verano en colaboración con la Universidad de Missouri-Columbia, en el marco de la Universidad de Verano Rafael Altamira de la UA.

Se impartirá, como siempre íntegramente en inglés, entre el 11 y el 28 de julio de 2011 en nuestro campus.

University of Missouri-Columbia

This three-week program, completely taught in English, is a unique opportunity for cross-cultural socialization between American and European students since classes are composed of students coming from the University of Missouri-Columbia (USA) and students from different European universities, including the University of Alicante. The program consists of two modules (please, read further details below), one offered by the University of Missouri-Columbia and one offered by the University of Alicante, during a three-week period. Each module comprises three courses; students participating in the program must attend one course of each module.  
 
Classes run from Mondays through Thursdays (Fridays off)
Classes are all in English and taught in the morning:
  9:00 to 11:00 Class Module A (Missouri)
11:00 to 11:30 BREAK
11:30 to 1:30 Class Module B (Alicante)

Class Module A
- (University of Missouri)


- Course 1: Managing in the Digital Globe (Lecturer: Antonie Stam, University of Missouri)
This course examines how digital and information technology are used to manage issues and problems in business in a global economy and world.

- Course 2: Marketing across cultures ( Lecturer: Srinath Gopalakrishna, University of Missouri)
This course will emphasize marketing across cultures for business to business and business to consumers, and maintaining customer relationships to promote and deliver products and services and providing service after the sales.

- Course 3: Managing across cultures (Lecturer: Richard Johnson , University of Missouri)
This course will examine business strategies used to compete in a global world and economy, multinational company and international company means for providing service and working with vendors/suppliers and customers to compete successfully.


MODULE B -
(Universidad de Alicante)

- Course 1: Marketing Applications: Tourism and Pan-European Marketing and Brand Marketing (Lecturers: Juan Luis Nicolau, Sonia Rujas and Eva Toledo, Department of Marketing, University of Alicante)
This course examines three relevant applications of Marketing principles: 1) Tourism Marketing, which focuses on the tourism marketing and its singular traits, explores the tourism marketing strategies that will have an impact on the future of the industry, and provides a local and global perspective on tourism marketing issues. 2) Pan-European Marketing, where a global overview of European Marketing is provided, with European marketing strategies, understanding how the consumer mind works in a global market like Europe. 3) Brand management, where marketing techniques are applied to brands, with an emphasis on the importance of today’s brand equity in marketing actions, dealing with the intangible character of brands and the relevance of brand protection Spain.

- Course 2: International Marketing (Lecturesr: Mayo de Juan, Moisés García Vidal, José Ramón Gonzálves Sempere. Department of Marketing, University of Alicante)
This course will provide the student with a fundamental base in international marketing and its application to international business. For a growing number of companies, being international is no longer a luxury but a necessity for economic survival. Special attention will be devoted to international marketing channels, international retailing and luxury marketing affecting the world economy, trade, markets, and competition.

- Course 3: Cross Cultural Business Behaviour. Doing Business in Spain (Lecturer: Prof. Pilar Barra, Department of Finance and Accounting, University of Alicante)
This course focuses on the importance of culture in the business environment. Business culture is different in every country and it has become the key to success.

Nuestros programas internacionales en cifras

Cada año son más los alumnos de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales que optan por cursar parte de sus estudios fuera de la Universidad de Alicante a través de programas de intercambio nacional o internacional.      
Reino Unido, Irlanda, Finlandia, Suecia y Holanda son algunos de los países más solicitados por nuestros estudiantes, entre un total de aproximadamente 150 convenios que nuestra Facultad mantiene dentro del Programa LLP-Erasmus. La creciente participación de nuestros alumnos en este programa nos convierte en el centro de la Universidad de Alicante con mayor número de estudiantes seleccionados en la convocatoria ordinaria para el curso académico 2010/11, alcanzando la cifra de 206 alumnos, la tercera parte del total de la Universidad.
      
También es relevante la participación de los alumnos de nuestra Facultad en el Programa de Movilidad No Europea de la Universidad de Alicante, donde fueron seleccionados 25 alumnos de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales del total de los 86 seleccionados por la Universidad de Alicante.
       

Los alumnos de nuestro centro interesados en cursar parte de sus estudios en universidades de EEUU o de China han tenido la posibilidad de solicitar, además de la beca anterior convocada para todos los alumnos de la Universidad de Alicante, los destinos ofertados dentro de nuestro Programa Propio de Movilidad No Europea, del que se han beneficiado 10 alumnos en total en el curso 2010/11.  A través del Consorcio SMEEE (Consortium for Small and Medium-size Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Education), fundado en el año 2003, nuestra Facultad intercambia alumnos con las universidades estadounidenses de Appalachian State University, Clemson University y University of North Florida. Además, desde el curso 2008/09 alumnos de nuestra Facultad han tenido la posibilidad de ampliar sus conocimientos en China y sus posibilidades de formación internacional en este país a través de los convenios específicos conseguidos por nuestro centro con la Shanghai International Studies University y la Guangdong University of Foreign Studies con la ayuda del Vicerrectorado de Relaciones Internacionales y Cooperación a través del Centro de Estudios Orientales.
      
La movilidad de los alumnos de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales no sólo se centra en las estancias fuera de España. Un total de 45 alumnos de nuestro centro han sido seleccionados para el curso 2010/11 dentro del Programa SICUE, que ofrece la posibilidad de estudiar en otra Comunidad Autónoma, siendo los destinos más solicitados Granada, Madrid y Barcelona.
     
A todo lo anterior, habría que añadir la posibilidad que se brinda a nuestros alumnos de mejorar su nivel de inglés sin salir de Alicante a través de los programas impartidos en este idioma ofertados por la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales. El International Business Programme es un programa de cursos en inglés ofertado por nuestra Facultad desde el curso académico 2005/06 que permite a los alumnos practicar este idioma y especializarse en diversas áreas de la economía o los negocios, integrándose en un entorno multicultural formado por estudiantes de todo el mundo, procedentes fundamentalmente de EEUU, Reino Unido, Alemania, Finlandia y Holanda, cuyo éxito aumenta año tras año, llegando a superar los 200 alumnos matriculados. Además, desde el verano de 2005, la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales, con el apoyo de la Universidad de Verano Rafael Altamira, organiza junto con la University of Missouri-Columbia de EEUU el Summer Business Program, impartido en inglés por profesores de ambos centros en el campus de Alicante y dirigido a grupos de alumnos compuestos por estudiantes europeos y  estadounidenses con el objetivo de ofrecer un mayor entendimiento de las prácticas empresariales españolas y promover un intercambio cultural enriquecedor entre los estudiantes de ambas universidades.
      
En definitiva, son casi 300 los alumnos de nuestra Facultad que cada año se benefician de alguno de los programas de intercambio ofertados por la Universidad de Alicante.  La Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales, a través del Vicedecanato de Relaciones Internacionales y Movilidad, apuesta firmemente por la movilidad de nuestros alumnos y la internacionalización de nuestro centro. Prueba de ello es el incremento que han experimentado las cifras de intercambio de estudiantes en los últimos años y el creciente interés de nuestros alumnos por la formación internacional.

Charla informativa sobre programas de movilidad en la Facultad

Esta mañana ha tenido lugar la charla informativa sobre los programas de movilidad en los que pueden participar los estudiantes de la Facultad. En ella hemos presentado los programas (Erasmus, SICUE-Séneca, Movilidad no europea, programas propios de la Facultad para intercambios con China y EEUU) y nuestra oferta de cursos en inglés (International Business Programme y Summer Business Program), centrándonos en los aspectos específicos que afectan a los estudiantes de la Facultad.

También hemos contestado a las dudas de quienes piensan solicitar una plaza Erasmus en la convocatoria extraordinaria de septiembre de 2010 para intercambios en el segundo semestre de este curso.

Universidad de Alicante / University of Missouri-Columbia Summer Business Program

Next July 2010 the campus will host a new edition of our International Business Program which for sure will be as successful as the previous ones¡


This three-week program, completely taught in English, is a unique opportunity for cross-cultural socialization between American and European students since classes are composed of students coming from the University of Missouri-Columbia (USA) and students from different European universities, including the University of Alicante. The academic offer is suplemented by an exciting program of cultural activities. Last year 84 students took part in the program.


The program consists of two modules, one offered by the University of Missouri-Columbia and one offered by the University of Alicante, during the three-week period. Each module comprises two courses; students participating in the program must attend one course of each module.

Module 1

  • Business Consulting (Prof. Luis Rodríguez Manfredi, Univ. Alicante)
  • Marketing Applications: Tourism Marketing, Pan-European Marketing and Brand Management (Prof. Juan Luis Nicolau and Eva Toledo, Univ. Alicante and Prof. Felipe Ruiz, Univ. Cardenal Herrera-CEU)

Module 2
  • Current Issues in Marketing (Prof. John F. Bennet, Univ. Missouri-Columbia)
  • Topics in International Business (Prof. Michael T. Christy, Univ. Missouri-Columbia)

The schedule of classes will be four days per week, from Monday to Thursday, starting on July 12 and finishing on July 31. Classes will be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
